“People are trapped in history and history is trapped in them.”
- James Baldwin
If you need help with…
Emotions
I work collaboratively with you to slow things down in session to discover what is happening for you. Often recounting past events can bring up emotions in the retelling that are linked to what you were feeling in the past. I work to make space for what arrives. Working this way can foster a more cohesive sense of self and deepens self compassion. We could:
Explore what your feelings/emotions are communicating to you.
Cultivate self compassion.
Create greater flexibility and understanding around your nervous system responses
Improve inner sense of self.
Relationships
I take a deeply relational approach to my work and what this simply means is that I am a real person in the room with you. Together we will uncover:
Your relational dynamics and patterns, and this might involve exploring your societal, cultural, familial influences on your present relationships.
How to identify and cultivate healthy boundaries that maintain your well-being and create mutual respect.
Explore how you might communicate your needs and desires with less constriction.
How to cultivate stronger and more meaningful relationships in your life.
Complex Trauma
I bring a trauma-informed approach to my work by cultivating trust and safety in the therapy space. I also have an attachment focus in my work, which looks at how early development has shaped our sense of safety in others and in ourselves. We might explore:
The impact of trauma in your life, and how it has shaped what you do, think, or believe about yourself.
Ways to reduce emotional impact of past experiences.
A more authentic version of you.
Approaches to foster resilience and inner calm.
I see clients both in person and online. I see clients in person on Thursdays and Sundays in downtown Toronto.
